They make waterskiing easy!
Would you like to learn to water-ski? They teach you how. Three
times during the week, some of the staff takes you water-skiing.
They have a big skiboat you can ride in too. All the equipment
is there and you just sign up and go down to the main dock at
1:00. They help you and tell you how to ski.
It's kind of scary at first, but its really fun.
Before arriving at Brookside for your first attempt at waterskiing,
study the hints below:
- Relax. There is no need to
be afraid of the big boat motor. Brookside's drivers have
pulled thousands of kids and the staff is experienced at teaching
kids to waterski.
- After the staff puts on your water skiis and lifejacket,
they will hand you the ski rope handle and hold you in the
"knees bent and arms straight" position. It
is essential that you keep your knees bent and arms straight!
- When you are ready, the staff will tell the boat to go.
Hang on, but also remember to let go if your fall down.
- People usually fall forward or they fall backward.
If you fall forward, it is caused by straight legs
that are not bent.
If you fall backward, it is caused by bent arms (people
often want to try and pull themselves out of the water instead
of letting the boat pull them out of the water.)
- You get three tries a day to get up on waterskiis. With
the expert training from the staff, most kids are skiing by
the end of their vacation.
